When I called her that evening to see how things were going, I was shocked to hear that her basement had at least an inch of standing water and more was pouring in from the fireplace! That night ice was covering everything, including the roads, and driving was extremely hazardous. I live out in Hillsboro and was unsure what to do. My sister, who lives in SE Portland, was struggling to get chains on her car to see if she could get there to help. I did a Google search for restoration companies in Vancouver and started making calls. I was SO relieved when I called SERVPRO. You called me back within minutes, and said that you'd be out there to take care of the situation, and you advised my sister and me to stay put.
Not only did you venture out on that awful night under hazardous conditions, you were able to shut off the water to stop the flow and pumped out the standing water before more damage could be done. You arranged for plumbers to come out and assess the location of the broken pipes and get those fixed, and you crew was on the site the next day to start the clean-up process and begin restoration work.
I was also impressed with how you made a point of being there when the insurance adjuster came to assess the damages. I feel like you were our knight in shining armor throughout the whole process, and you had my mother's best interests at heart in every aspect of the situation. You really had her back!
