Along the North bank of the Columbia river, set in East Clark County is Camas, Washington. Originally named La Camas after the camas lily; camas lily bulbs were both a staple and a delicacy in the local Native American diet. Camas was also visited by the famous Lewis and Clark expedition in 1805 and again in 1806, camping for several days with the native Watlala. It wasn’t until 1883 that the owner of The Oregonian, Henry L. Pittock sought out La Camas as a prime location for his next paper mill. Along with the mill came the town, establishing stores and ultimately became the town's identity.
Today, Camas has become an ideal city to raise a family. Students attending the public High School have the mascot, the Camas Paper Maker’s. The high school ranked 35th in the state for academia performance and 13th in the state for athleticism. Downtown Camas has plenty to offer with boutiques, dining and antiquing to browse; if you enjoy the outdoors instead, neighboring to the east is the historically beautiful Columbia River Gorge, which is littered with trails and waterfalls.
Due to the city’s proximity to The Columbia River Gorge, the city experiences higher wind speeds and a higher likelihood of snow than other cities in West Clark County. Despite planning and preventive maintenance, things occur out of your control. In the past year we experience three separate/unrelated events which required immediate mitigation. On all three events Tim and his team at SERVPRO saved our bacon, making the experiences far less stressful for my staff and our Residents. During our most recent event Tim answered his phone and was out to our building, along with his assistant, within an hour to begin assessing our situation. Within 2 hours Tim had a mitigation crew working on clean-up. Given the nature and extent of the event we were realistic that it could take into the following afternoon to get the place back to operating condition. However, Tim's crew was somehow able to get the place back up and ready before the end of the business day. They were incredibly thorough. In addition, his crew was exceptionally friendly and great to work with throughout their time onsite. When the invoice arrived I felt the price was very fair---especially considering the quality of work and response time. Two of the events involved insurance claims, which Tim and his team at SERVPRO managed directly, saving us time and stress. If you're a business owner, or any kind of property owner, I strongly recommend reaching out to this SERVPRO office and setting things up in advance, just to be safe. You will be glad you did. I cannot recommend these folks enough.
