Prosser, Washington is a town of roughly six thousand people located in Benton County. The town is home to many local festivals and events that celebrate local wines and culinary delights. History of Prosser
Native Americans lived in Prosser before it became Prosser. They fished along the Yakima River. These Native Americans referred to this land as "Táptat," which means "long hair in front, short hair on the sides." In 1879, Colonel William Farrand Prosser surveyed the area and officially claimed it home in 1882. The Northern Pacific Railroad laid down tracks through Prosser in 1884, and in 1899, the town was officially incorporated. Over the years, the town has become a large tourist destination because of its location along the river and easy access to major highways. The city is known for its rich history, beautiful scenery and friendly residents. There is a great deal of beauty and activity here to enjoy, including warm sunny days and cool nights.
