Hopewell Junction is a hamlet of the Town of East Fishkill and easily accessible off of I-84, Routes 52, 82 and Route 376 from many other local towns. Hopewell (as most call it), is a small town with plenty of local businesses with pride in the local John Jay High School and the historic Hopewell Depot Museum, a train station built in 1873.
The Hopewell Depot is completely volunteer-run and loaded with amazing history from it’s first purpose as a fully functioning train station, both commercial and passenger, to being burned down in an arson fire and being completely re-built and now serves as a very-special museum for train and history enthusiasts!
IBM’s Northeast Headquarters was built just down the road in 1962 as the global giant’s research hub. With that, a housing boom occurred to accommodate all the employees, both travelling in to and living in the area of their headquarters. All types of homes, neighborhoods and shopping popped up to help keep up with the populations needs. This boom helped spread out to other outlying towns and further increased the demographics of the Hudson Valley. When we were ready to mitigate the crew came in ripped up the flooring and other wet material. The equipment to dry the areas was set up and checked daily. The best part was our piece of mind that the water was removed, ruined items were gone, and we were certain there was no mold on our property. We suffered a catastrophic septic tank backup into our lower floor bathroom. Called SERVPRO and had an inspection within 24 hours (I believe they can do it even faster if they are 'on emergency') A very reasonable quote for the cleanup was e-mailed the following morning, and an appointment given the following day. A small crew arrived on time, and were super polite and efficient - not just doing the work, but asking intelligent questions about what might need looking at. They completed the work to our satisfaction and left the room clean, sanitized and smelling fresh (which it had not been...) The guys also had great presentation, kept the details and communication on iPads with instant response from the central office - so no time wasted in silly bureaucracy. I'd wholeheartedly recommend the company to anyone unfortunate enough to be overwhelmed by such an unpleasant 'sludge invasion' event. I'm keeping them on speed dial!
