Pineville, Louisiana is located across the Red River from Alexandria. Pineville was the original site for Louisiana State University (LSU) but it was a seminary and military school. In started its first academic classes in 1860. Today, as we all know, LSU is in Baton Rouge. Pineville is currently home to the Baptist university Louisiana Christian University.
