The town was first created by Mormons and was once known as “Central City” because it was built around the Central Mine. The town’s name was changed when the railroad came through and built a train stop there.

Enterprise, Utah is known for being home to the oldest remaining log cabin in Utah. It has a population of over 1000 people, and sits in the high desert at an elevation just under 5300'. The weather is dry and hot, rarely below freezing in the winter months and regularly reaching 100+ degrees during the summer months. The town is known as the home of Utah State University Eastern’s campus and the birthplace of many famous individuals including Roy Rogers, Carl Edlund and Andrew Jensen.
What is the history of Enterprise, Utah?
Enterprise, Utah is a vibrant small town with a rich history that launched from the Weber River Valley. The town’s first settler was James G. Lake who came in 1881 and built his home near the river where he lived until 1893. The name of Enterprise was selected specially because it implied growth, expansion, and enterprise in business and industry. Enterprise is known for its rich heritage, which includes a beautiful pioneer museum. In 2011, the Utah House of Representatives voted to name the community as the "Wool Capital of America".
