Marlin, Texas is a city in Falls and Marlin counties in the U.S. state of Texas, in the northern portion of the Greater Waco Area. The population is around 5,000 as of the 2020 census. It is located at the intersection of Interstate Highway 35 and US Highway 77 as well as US Highway 84 and US Highway 190 which run through town as "Central" St., which ends at the Brazos River bridge. Marlin is best known as a venue for bass fishing tournaments on Lake Somerville, but it also has strong associations with country music singer George Jones.
History of Marlin
The area of Marlin was originally settled in 1850. Marlin was originally named "Marlin's Prairie" after a local landowner named John Marlin by surveyors who were camped on his property in the 1850s. The name means "The hammer" when translated from German. The town of Marlin was officially incorporated on January 12, 1867. In 1875, the courthouse burned down and a new brick building was created for the courthouse. From 1904 to 1918, Marlin was the site for the Major League Baseball training camp. Four teams trained in Marlin during this time: the Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants.

They arrived the same day they were called and moved forward without interruption. So efficient! And the workmanship was excellent.
