In 1872 the City of Manor Texas was founded. By the mid-1880s Manor had a district school, churches, and several general stores. The community grew rapidly in the late nineteenth and early centuries. Manor was a commercial center for area farmers, many of whom used the railroad to ship livestock and dairy products. Today, Manor’s population exceeds an estimate of 8,500 residents. The holiday event is held in Timmermann Park with food vendors a train and even a movie in the evening. Recently the city was recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA.
