Allen is located approximately 25 miles north of Dallas off US 75 and is within 30 miles of two major airports, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL).

Allen was officially incorporated on June 20, 1953. Yet Allen’s origins can be traced back to the 1840’s when it was a township located along the Houston and Texas Central Railroad.  Allen has grown and changed so much since then.

Allen offers a smalltown feel with big city amenities, including entertainment and shopping. You can spend time shopping and dining at Watters Creek or at The Shops of Allen or find a great deal at the Allen Premium Outlets.  The Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen has year round concerts and sporting events which include the Allen Americans hockey league and Dallas Sidekicks soccer league.  

Among the many walking trails and parks, Allen offers many recreational facilities such as the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, Allen Community Ice Rink, Joe Farmer Recreation Center, The Edge skatepark at Allen Station Park and the Allen Senior Recreation Center.

Allen was named after Ebenezer Allen – former Attorney General of Texas.

The first train robbery in Texas occurred in Allen on February 22, 1878 by Sam Bass and his associates.

Kyler Murray, 2018 Heisman Trophy winner, 2019 first overall NFL draft pick, Arizona Cardinals player is an Allen Eagles 2014 graduate.
