Along the southernmost tip of Blount County TN in the historic Overhill Cherokee area, there sits the small town of Tallassee, TN. Tallassee has been the center of historic and prehistoric discoveries in Blount County since the 1950’s when over two dozen Cherokee burial spots were discovered. Since this discovery a lot has changed in this little town but nothing like the intentional flooding that was done to create the Chilhowee Dam in 1955. The dam was created as a main power source for the ALCOA aluminum smelting plant residing just over the hill. Creating the dam submerged parts of Tallassee that are now only viewable when the water is lowered for maintenance. Although the flooding for the dam was intentional most flooding in the area is not and during those times, SERVPRO is here to help.
