What many don't know is that Burton has quite the history. It is named after Thomas Pollock Burton who became the Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina in 1821. Some notable landmarks include the old post office building and the church on Main Street. It is the home of First Federal Bank, and has been an important part of our history since the 30's when developments like Friendly Apparel and The Burton House were built.
