At the Northwestern tip of Oregon’s Coast, Warrenton is a quaint beach town harboring the historic D.K. Warren home dating back to 1855. Famous for being the final encampment of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the city of Warrenton is home to some of Oregon’s early history. Warrenton, Oregon (formerly known as Skipanon) is memorialized on its Skipanon River within the beautiful Clatsop County. Skipanon featured a post office that operated from 1871 to 1903. The city is home to Fort Stevens, a military base used until 1974. Fort Stevens is a part of the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. The land Warrenton resides on is a mere 17.03 square miles and sits nearby to Astoria.
