Gold beach visitor Center hold a glass float treasure hunt in the month of April that last one month, extends the distance of 1 mile and 1000 floats are hidden. You can get a treasure map from GBVC and also gain a chance to win a specialty glass float. Gold Beach also has a very prolific sporting community that takes advantage of the Rouge River and the local beaches. Fishing, Crabbing and Clamming are just some of the favorites, but for those bird watchers Gold Beach has a vast variety of species for you to seek out and enjoy, such as Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets, Hutton’s Vireos, Greater White-fronted Geese, Common Mergansers, American Dippers, Wild Turkeys, Red-tailed Hawks, Peregrine Falcons, Downy Woodpeckers, Northern Flickers, Winter Wren, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Varied Thrushes, Song Sparrows etc.
