Portsmouth, Ohio is a historic city located on the north bank of the Ohio River, just east of the mouth of the Scioto River. The city was established in 1803 and has a rich history of Native American culture, early European settlement, and important contributions to the abolitionist movement. Today, Portsmouth is known for its industrial base and has become an important location for fire and water restoration services.
Portsmouth's location at the confluence of two major rivers made it an important transportation hub for early settlers and industrialists.
