Umstead is a state park found in Wake County in North Carolina under the management of the Department of Parks and Recreation. It was established in 1937 and named after William Bradley Umstead, a politician who served as a Senator and Governor of North Carolina between 1953 and 1954. These gave rise to the clearing of forests to create farmlands that were quite effective before the Depression hit hard.
