Rich in history, the town dates back to 1761, but was not incorporated until 1816. One of the more notable things about Oxford is that the first Masonic Home for Children in the United States was built here in 1873. Oxford was also home to Horner Military School, The Oxford Female College, and Central Home for Children. Take a drive down College St or through the historical district to see some of the most beautiful homes in North Carolina. Many are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Oxford is growing as it becomes a living destination for those wanting to get out of the hustle and bustle of The Triangle.
