The city of Nixa traces if origins to farmers who pioneered their farms along the wooded streams near what is now present-day Nixa. The growing community quickly became a stop over and crossroads for teamsters hauling freight traveling between Springfield and Arkansas. Known for our local festival, Sucker Days, Music, Arts and Craft Festival that has been celebrated since 1957.  The family friendly event is held annually in May on Nixa’s Main Street, with live entertainment and local crafts, sucker fish and other foods are sold.
