Greenwood is a city in Jackson and Cass counties, located in Missouri. It was laid out in 1867 and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Greenwood also contains a post office called Greenwood that has been in operation since 1866 and still remains today. In the year 1963 Greenwood was incorporated. The area that constitutes Greenwood is mainly lightly wooded and open fields northeast of its rail line, along with several small ponds.
