Hamburg has a unique history. John and Bertha Winkelhaus bought the Hamburg House Hotel, originally built in 1835, they moved in on their wedding day in 1903. The hotel was home to the Winkelhaus family as well as a temporary shelter for settlers. The Winkelhaus family lived there for over 50 years. Unfortunately the hotel was destroyed by a fire in 1962. The Winkelhaus family held on to the property and it is now the home of WInkelhaus Park. The park offers gazebos, picnic tables and horseshoe pits. The park offers a nice place for residents to relax and unwind.
