Thurmont Water Damage and Fire Damage
The town of Thurmont was originally named Mechanicstown in 1751. However, the name was changed in 1894 to avoid conflict with other communities with similar names. Thurmont is derived from German and Latin and is roughly translated to "Gateway to the Mountains." One of the oldest remaining buildings in Thurmont is the Creeger House, built in 1820 and maintained by the Thurmont Historical Society.
The Thurmont Regional Library plays an active role in community activities. Events occur at the library almost every day of the week, including everything from Baby Story Time on Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30 am to a Documentary Screening: Cities of the Future, from 2 to 3 pm on April 27. Town Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 pm. The next few meetings are planned for April 1, May 6, and June 3. The Thurmont Farmers Market is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, in the Community Park. View the town calendar for additional events and dates.
Thurmont Restaurant Week runs from April 19 to the 26th. Enjoy home cooked goodness from all of our locally owned restaurants. Participants can pick up their Restaurant Week card at participating locations, including The Dirty Dawg, Cousins Ace Hardware, and the Thurmont Town Office.
