Below are Some tips on Protecting your Personal Property on Waterfront Homes
- If you use your basement in this area as storage space, place everything on top of pallets, bricks, or on racks. With the prevalence of high tide and the inability to prevent massive flooding.. It is best to keep these items at least 6 inches off the ground.
- Place items in plastic totes, that can be sealed completely shut.
- Always check your sump pump and drainage system.. If this fails, then your basement will flood.
- Do not keep porous materials such as furniture sitting directly on the floor of the basement. If you can sit it on top of wood blocks, or bricks to prevent smaller floods from ruining the furniture.
- always keep a dehumidifier running in the area to prevent moisture issues and condensation in your basement.
