When buying or living in a home in Carney Maryland please give yourself a peace of mind and inspect your home for the following.
1. Knob and Tube wiring- this type of wiring was used around the early to mid 1900s and is considered to be a safety/fire hazard in today's standard.
This type of wiring is a hazard due to the way its installed and the lack of grounding wire to the system. If you have knob and tube wiring, please have a licensed electrician do an inspection on your home.
2. Lead paint- While the manufacturing of lead paint was banned from being used and made in 1978, we can still find hundreds of thousands of homes today that contain lead paint. If you have a water damage or fire damage, and your home was built prior to 1978 please test for lead paint before doing the proper demo. Lead paint can be found around window trims, door trims, kitchens and bathrooms mainly, and many more. Lead paint peels and is heavy so it's unlikely that it becomes air borne and might just need a lead tech certified company to remove and clean properly.
3. Faulty plumbing, make sure there are no deteriorating drain lines or copper pipes that may result in a water loss in the home. If you have greening copper pipes its recommended you reach out to a plumber and have these assessed and replaced if necessary.
