Pinehurst is a city in Dooly County, Georgia, United States. The population is a mere 455 people, which is actually up by over 150 people from population reports from the decade before. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Pinehurst in 1895. This tree-rich community was named for the pine trees abundant in Georgia, and notably even more dense here. Pinehurst is located northeast of the center of Dooly County. The U.S. Route 41 passes through the center of town as Pine Avenue, leading north 5 miles to Unadilla and south 8 miles to Vienna, which is the county seat. Interstate 75 passes just east of the town limits, with access from Exit 117, while I-75 leads north 48 miles to Macon and south 56 miles to Tifton. In the reports from the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square mile which, like many other surrounding cities, is all land. The 2000 census reported that there were 307 people, 145 households and 87 families in the city.
