Parrott is a town in Terrell County, Georgia, United States. The population was 158 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Albany, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. Parrott was founded in the 1860s by James and John L. Parrott, pioneer citizens. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Parrott as a town in 1889. The town is located in southwest Georgia along Georgia State Route 520(South Georgia Parkway,) which leads southeast 9 mi to Dawson, the Terrell County seat, and northwest 18 mi to Richland. Columbus is 53 mi northwest and Albany is just 34 mi southeast, so it has accessibility to larger scale shopping and activities for residents as well. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 square miles, and that is made up of all land. The most recent census reports there are 156 people, 68 households, and 41 families residing in the town. The population density was 200.1 inhabitants per square mile. That is made up of a total of 88 housing units.
A fun fact, and source of drawing attraction to the area, is the parts of the 1980 western film The Long Riders were filmed in Parrot, notably the "Northfield" scene. Another interesting bit of information is that Artrain USA visited Parrott in 1976, one of the few non-metropolitan stops on its journey. The event was accompanied by a large arts and crafts show, along with craft demonstrations. Jimmy Carter attended the event to cut the ribbon and open the show, and gave a speech to commemorate the occasion. This is a story known and told by generations of families from the area.

You would never know there was a fire in my house and I am grateful for all the many kindnesses, and skill of Josh and his construction crew.
