Leesburg is a city in Lee County that has a population of 3,480. It is the county seat of Lee County and is part of the Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was first known as “Wooten Station,” and was founded in 1870 when the Central of Georgia Railway came into the area. Two name changes later landed the title “Leesburg” in 1874. It is the site for the well known Leesburg Stockade incident- where a group of African American teens and pre-teens were arrested for protesting and advocating against racial segregation in nearby Americus, Ga. It continued to gain nationwide exposure when they were imprisoned without having been actually charged with any crime for 45 days straight. Although a negative occurrence, the incident gained exposure for the small town of Leesburg nonetheless.
In Leesburg, US Route 19 passes through the city, leading north 26 miles to Americus and south 11 lies to Albany, GA as well. State Route 32 is the city’s Main Street and it leads east 32 miles to Ashburn and west 18 miles to Dawson, GA. The town has a total area of just 5 square miles. The Kinchafononee Creek flows in it as well as the Flint and Apalachicola River as well.

She was always supportive and encouraging. She was knowledgeable about things that I didn’t even know enough to have questions about. I appreciate her responsiveness and her professionalism during this difficult time. Josh was in charge of reconstructing my house. I was not initially sure it would ever be right again. He answered my MANY questions over the almost 8 months, and he did a superb job of putting my house back together better than ever. He was definitely in charge and I wouldn’t hesitate to have him build a house for me from scratch-actually this was almost as involved as starting from scratch with the addition of dealing with smoke and water damage. You would never know there was a fire in my house and I am grateful for all the many kindnesses, and skill of Josh and his construction crew.
