The land that now is called Deerwood, Florida was owned by Richard Green Skinner. It was passed down through his children and grandchildren; in particular Bryant Skinner who began to build a golf course there in 1960. It was designed on a limited budget by notable golf course architect, George Cobb. Then the first home (his home) was constructed in the Deerwood development. The following year another (his brother's) was built. In early 1962, Bryant Skinner then began to outline and lay out a unique and exclusive gated golf community that would become what we now call Deerwood, Florida.
Deerwood was the first gated community in Florida. It was the most exclusive residential area on Jacksonville's Southside for many years. The golf course hosted the Greater Jacksonville Open in the late 1960s and early 1970s, forerunner of The Players Championship, and was once the site of talks between President Gerald Ford and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in November 1975.
Leafy Deerwood is still an affluent district with resort-style residential complexes and country clubs. There are pristine sports fields, many lakeside picnic shelters, and a playground at Fort Family Park. Casual restaurants are located at Point Meadows shopping plaza, and they serve American and European food. There is also a large shopping center by the name of St. Johns Town Center nearby. It is an upscale outdoor mall with designer boutiques. The area also has a handful of standard hotels to accommodate the frequent visitors.

It's hard to find some type of hope during a time where you would need a company like SERVPRO, and the pride and professionalism these gentlemen brought with them everyday was a true testament to us making the right decision to call them at 0130 in the morning when we found out our home had flooded. It was almost sad seeing them pack up their equipment knowing we weren't going to see them the next day, but we knew it was the start of the next chapter in the rebuilding of our home. We can't thank them enough!!
Jason was excellent- made a call to have our office disinfected, he was able to meet me shortly after our initial call. Jason was very professional and friendly! Great company
Great service from Amber, Colby and Spencer. Amber arranged for the team to come to my house for a water intrusion issue and did so quickly and was more than helpful! Colby and Spencer arrived, located the source of the leak, set up fans and dehumidifiers with expertise! These folks were professional, worked quickly to contain the damage and prevent further issues. All of them realized how a homeowner feels with water is in their home and provided much needed assistance! These folks and SERVPRO are outstanding!
