It began as a mill town in the 18th century. The Slater Library & Fanning Annex is an arresting monument built in 1884. It features round-arched windows with brownstone framing. The library is a valued amenity. However, if you visit on the first and third Saturdays of each month in the afternoon, you can get into the Griswold Historical Society Museum on the building’s second floor.
The Stone Bridge farm is another interesting place to visit in the town. The farm has a herd of alpacas, kept for their luxurious wool and as breeding stock.
Griswold also hosts unique, interesting events annually. On January 25, 2025, you can join the Griswold PTO High School for the yearly GHS PTO Winter Ball, which will start at 6:30 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. The event features a DJ, photo booth, Candy Bar, and Caricaturist, among other entertaining activities.
