History of Ninemile Corner
Ninemile Corner's history starts in the 1800s when it was settled by pioneers, and stayed that way until becoming an important stop on the mining railroad known as the Moffat Road. It was originally called "Far Ninemile" but was changed after the Civil War to avoid confusion with another Ninemile Corner in Kansas. In 1906, it became a town when a roadhouse was built there to serve travelers on this route. Today it still offers travelers a chance to step back into history at either one of its two museums or its many other historic sites.
