The fourth largest city in Arkansas is Springdale. The city of Springdale is located in Northwest Arkansas. It has the unique distinction of being in both Benton and Washington counties. Shiloh was the original name for the city, being from the Shiloh church. When applying for a post office, the local residents chose the name Springdale when incorporating in 1872. Springdale has long been an important industrial hub for Northwest Arkansas. The world’s largest meat producing company, Tyson Foods, has their world headquarters located in Springdale. The Tyson family has supported the growth of Springdale thru the establishment of several public features. The city is also home to JB Hunt, one of the country's largest trucking companies. On March 30, 2022 an EF3 tornado struck the town. This tornado damaged or destroyed several commercial and residential structures. Fortunately, this tornado injured only seven people.
