Hayneville Cleanup and Restoration

This small cozy town is the county seat of Lowndes County, as it was incorporated in 1967. Full of culture and history, an oral tale of the town says there was once a thriving race track for horse racing, which nows gives Pine Street the nickname “Race Track”. Some local hot spots around the area are Southern Sportsman Hunting Lodge, Southern Star Entertainment Center and Harrell & Sons Quail Farm.

The town comes alive with an array of local events, and recently has started a bunch of firsts as the town grows and flourishes. 1st Annual Classic Corvette Cruise-In is a fund-raising event that starts at the courthouse square park, does a ride about on AL HWY 21 So., and ends with Show and Tell Display. Another first is the 1st Annual Bloody Sunday Jubilee Celebration at Southern Star Casino, which commemorates the Historic 1965 Voters Rights March from Selma to Montgomery Alabama. This event is celebrated through music, games, vendors, food, arts & crafts and horse show/display. The Hayneville Baptist Church Wild Game Supper is another great event where local hunters come enjoy deviously cooked wild turkey, deer, dove, goose, hog, bass, speckled trout, catfish, and even iguana.

This Hayneville is rich with community care and spirit. With the help of the Alabama Forestry Commission, locals were putting on a tree giveaway event to encourage tree planting in the area and was even covered by WSFA News. The community takes care of their elders as they have Alabama Emergency Management Agency talk with senior citizens at the “Be Ready, Lowndes County” to prepare for severe weather and donate radios to the residents.
