Once a settlement located in the fork of Little Wills Creek, Collinsville was founded in the mid 1800s by Alfred Collins. The town holds one of the south's oldest and largest flea markets, Collinsville Trade Day, which is held every Saturday, rain or shine, and located at the south end of town on U.S. Highway 11. The Historic Cricket Theatre can be found in downtown Collinsville, with its current location being the second Cricket, which opened in 1946. The Cricket Theatre also housed the local telephone exchange when it first opened, complete with "number please" operators in rooms upstairs.
